NK ADAMANT Strengthens Its Position as a Key Supplier for Submarine Export Programs
NK ADAMANT, the defense subsidiary of NK Corporation (KOSPI: 085310), announced on April 28 that it is strengthening its position as a key supplier of critical systems as Korean shipbuilders continue to expand their presence in the global submarine export market. The company expects these opportunities to support its long-term business growth.
The company has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with major Korean shipbuilders participating in submarine export programs and has completed the submission of preliminary budgetary quotations. As the projects advance through technical reviews and commercial negotiations, NK ADAMANT expects to further strengthen its participation by building on the technical groundwork established during the early stages of these programs.
The company currently supplies major equipment for the KSS-III Batch-II submarine program. These advanced systems must satisfy stringent noise and vibration requirements, and NK ADAMANT has already established extensive engineering expertise and manufacturing experience in meeting these demanding standards. This proven track record and accumulated technical expertise are expected to further strengthen the company's competitiveness in future submarine export programs.
ubmarine export programs are currently being pursued by major Korean shipbuilders for several countries, including Canada, and NK ADAMANT is well positioned to participate as a supplier of the same critical systems. As global defense demand continues to grow amid an evolving security environment, successful contract awards for Korean shipbuilders are expected to create additional business opportunities for the company.
As multiple ongoing projects progress toward finalization, NK ADAMANT expects to enter a new phase of long-term growth. Given the nature of submarine programs, which typically involve long production and delivery cycles, these projects also have the potential to generate a stable and sustainable revenue stream over an extended period.
Today, submarine-related business accounts for more than half of the company's total revenue, making continued expansion of the submarine export market a key driver of NK ADAMANT's future growth. The global submarine market is estimated at approximately KRW 70 trillion, providing significant opportunities as demand for advanced submarine capabilities continues to increase.
ndustry observers believe that, as major submarine export programs move forward, NK ADAMANT is well positioned to achieve both sustainable growth and long-term business stability. In addition, the company has established and operates a comprehensive security management system that meets the stringent security requirements of defense programs, further reinforcing confidence in its technological capabilities.
An NK ADAMANT representative commented:
"As nations continue to strengthen their defense capabilities and accelerate the localization of advanced defense equipment, our technologies are becoming increasingly recognized. By securing a solid foundation of long-term orders, we will continue to grow the defense business into one of the Group's key growth drivers."
Meanwhile, NK Corporation is proceeding with a share consolidation as part of its efforts to enhance shareholder value. Trading of its shares will be suspended from April 28 through May 21, with the newly consolidated shares scheduled to be listed on May 22.
